 Air Monitoring

Air Monitoring

In Portugal, industrial processes whose activity releases gaseous effluents into the atmosphere, do so with environmental licensing granted by the APA - Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente (Portuguese Environment Agency), or regional authorities, CCDR - Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional (Regional Coordination and Development Committee). This licensing sets the emission limits for the various pollutants associated with each industrial process.
Emitting industries may either have continuous automated measurement systems (AMS) installed, that provide real-time information on atmospheric emissions, or conform to periodic emission assessments. In either case, independent tests must be performed by accredited external entities, with a IPAC – Instituto Português de Acreditação (Portuguese Institute for Accreditation) accreditation to perform testing per EN ISO / IEC 17025.

Quality Assurance of Automated Measurement Systems (AMS) - EN 14181

Quality Assurance of Automated Measurement Systems (AMS) - EN 14181

SONDAR.i has a specialized field team dedicated to the quality assurance of automated measurement systems (AMS) per EN 14181.
The "EN 14181 - Stationary source emissions — Quality assurance of automated measuring systems" standard aims to assure that automated measuring systems can meet the requirements of measured values given by legislation, covering 4 quality assurance levels:
• QAL 1 - Assurance level that asses the AMS conformity for its application before installation
• QAL 2 - Procedure for calibration of the AMS after installation, and verification of compliance with the requirements of European Union Directives
• QAL 3 - Procedure to maintain and demonstrate the quality levels mentioned above by checking the consistency during the normal operation of the AMS
• AST - Annual Surveillance Tests procedure of the AMS to evaluate that it complies with the requirements specified in QAL2

Currently SONDAR is accredited to conduct the following test parameters, among other:

Particles; CO; CO2; O2; SO2; NOx; COT; Absolut Humidity; temperature; velocity and pressure; non-methane volatile organic compounds; Methane; TRS; fluorides; Clorets; N2O; chloro dibenzodioxin; chloro dibenzofurans; PAHs; Fluorides; SO2; NH3; PM10; PM2,5; HCl, HBr, HF [Cl2,Br2]; PCbs.
